Reports former Rio execs help Rinehart January 27, 2012 11:12 AM

Former Rio Tinto Ltd (ASX:RIO) executives are reportedly helping billionaire Gina Rinehart expand her mining interests into uranium, diamonds, oil and gas. That’s according to the Australian Financial Review.

The paper says the strategy will create a new diversified Australian resources giant.

John Collier, the former Rio Tinto global exploration chief is reportedly credited with the push.

Rio Tinto reported a net profit of $7.5 billion in the first half of the 2011 calendar year.
