Telstra ADSL pricing January 27, 2012 11:11 AM

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is considering plans to “declare” wholesale ADSL, according to The Australian.

Telstra Corporation Ltd (ASX:TLS) is fighting against the proposal that could see the ACCC set prices and terms for rivals providing internet access over Telstra’s copper telephone lines.

Rivals are concerned the telco will lock customers into long-term contracts, and then transfer them to the NBN.

In a new submission to the competition watchdog Telstra says that declaring its wholesale ADSL is unnecessary.

Telstra posted a net profit of $3.25 billion in the 2011 financial year.
